Mission Statement

Nature Camps is an Outdoor Adventure and Environmental Education organization, that is committed to the use of experiential education programs to promote individual growth, and sensory awareness for both children and parents. NC is a family based program.

NC Day Camp:

Camp Wonder (an early education program for four year olds; limit of 8 - 10 per two week session)

Campers (5 - 12; limited enrollment per two, four, six, or eight week sessions)

Teen Adventure

Combined day and overnight challenging program (13 - 16; 8 teens per four week session)

In addition to our Camp Programs, Nature Camps offers the following services.

Nature Camp Open House and Camp Fairs
Staff Development, Training and Certification
Teen Adventure Program Orientation Day
Published Papers about Experiential Education

Nature Camps Property

The property on which Nature Camps is located is named Camp Running Bear. This is one of the names property owners, Al and Suzie Henneman, gave to their 228 acres of Gunpowder Valley Conservancy woodlands. Camp Dancing Bear describes the campsite up the hill behind the dining hall. Al was a runner and Susie is a dancer. Al, Suzie, and their dogs, frequently walk the whole property in all seasons.
