Adventure Challenge Course Upgrades During pre-camp training, counselors located the needed locust tree in the upper field's woods, took old fashioned two person saws, cut it down, used hand draw knives to remove the bark (to prevent rotting), and carried two fourteen foot long logs down to the Lower Ropes Course. They were needed for new bi-post construction of the new zip line and series of swings by swing specialist, John Fox. They assisted in pulling and lifting the new poles in place. Later, counselors built a new spotting bridge next to the notched log over the stream, covering it with chicken wire to prevent slipping. Throughout the summer, Counselors and Teen Adventure Explorers assisted in various aspects of reconstructing Ropes Course elements. Campers often carried wood chips to place under Rope Course elements as they passed by on their hiking adventures or leprechaun house building. Two Open Houses in 2011! |
