OUR PROGRAMS Nature Camps provides an atmosphere of adventure, sensory awareness, and creative expression. Our staff helps children feel comfortable in and understand their environment. The Inestimable Worth of Each Child We believe in the power of outdoor experiences to enrich and guide young lives. It is our task as Outdoor Educators to make these experiences happen in well planned, safe, constructive, and meaningful ways. Our experienced NC Staff provides the knowledge and supervision – but the outdoors is the big teacher. At Nature Camps, Inc, the importance of recognizing and understanding the inestimable worth of each child is our guiding principle. The importance of understanding and making use of children’s different learning styles cannot be overstated. Our Staff specializes in mixed age learning. Nature Camps’ 250 acre setting reflects its philosophy – a love of nature and adventure, combined with a love of learning. Designed for it’s children, their present happy growth, and their soundly based future effectiveness, Nature Camps is a creative setting where inquiry and exploration support lifelong processes of education. Our program daily offers a broad range of activities. In a creative and guided setting, children choose activities in which they wish to participate. Summertime belongs especially
to children. Nature Camps provides an unhurried, relaxful, and adventuresome
time – for children to find success and joy. |

A SENSE OF WONDER
Children are realists. They want to experience things first hand. When children are studying their environment and its wonders, life becomes a little more understandable and touchable to them. Even more appealing to children is the fact that learning outdoors is fun and gives them a feeling of having a good time while learning. Children know that realities turn them on: The realities of sun and wind and rain; of a calf that licks your hand when you feed her, rows of corn that can mean corn roasts later on; of mountains to climb that challenge young muscles, and of subsistence training which test knowledge of wilderness roots, berries and plants.
