Co-Director's Message

Pre-Camp Staff Training was held from June 11 through 19. It was such a pleasure for the 2010 NC staff to spend eight days and six nights getting ready for camp. Twenty plus outdoor educators hiked in the woods, practiced canoeing skills, and tackled the ropes course. Having earned life guard and wilderness first aid certifications prior to staff training, counselors were able to focus on group facilitation skills to use with their campers. The evenings were joyful, as the sounds of guitars, mandolin, accordion, drum, and bagpipes rang out. See the fun below.

How Can You Help in the Gulf?

Nature Camps is collecting human hair and pantyhose donations to make booms to soak up oil in the Gulf. Call your hair dresser and ask them to save hair for a worthy cause. Drop it off in carpool or email Heidisilberg@gmail.com for pickup availability. We will make booms at camp to send for the clean up. Call us to volunteer! Visit www.matteroftrust.com for details.
P.S. one handful of hair collects 3 cubic inches of oil instantly!

A Message From a Parent

Nature Camps Inc.,

I LOVED this place - took my 3-year-old for a parent/child day camping experience (called Camp Little Feet) and we both got so much out of it. They have full day camp with before and after care for ages 4 to teenager. Very focused on nature and conservation - unpretentious, enthusiastic counselors - it's been around since the 1970s - we felt like part of a great big, fun family.
