CAMPER PROGRAM GOALS

In rain or shine, Outdoor Educators take children out into the woods, fields, and streams:

Helping children feel comfortable in and understand their environment.
Expanding children's questioning attitude about their world.
Heightening children's sensory awareness, using all their senses, experiencing some of the places where plants and animals live.
Having children experience certain ecological concepts and to help motivate further respect for their surroundings.
Helping prepare children for making choices, becoming self-directed, and responsible for their own learning.
Creating an atmosphere of caring and respect.
Bringing forth a spirit of adventure and excitement.
Assuring children of their inestimable worth.

Through all of the children's explorations at NC, they find out a lot about themselves, gain self-confidence, develop harmony within themselves, and form lasting friendships with each other.

It's all about "A Sense of Wonder!"

This is NC learning and education - a leading forth toward the full, happy, and effective living we all want for each of our children, and for the camp community as a whole.

NC experiences enable each child to learn to deal with change, to probe with questions, to thrive on independence. It also tends to bring forth compassion and a rugged, venturesome, and joyful attitude.
