WHAT TO BRING TO CAMP Children are to bring two packs to NC each day. A day pack which they can use for all activities, to carry just their nutritious lunch, water, and Nature Journal. The lighter the better for our young bodies! Each child must also bring a stuff sack in which to keep essential items such as a swim suit and towel, old shoes, change of clothing, and poncho. This stuff sack is kept in the child's cubby. All activities are outside, rain or shine! Remember to send a poncho! During thunderstorms, activities are held inside. We ask parents to make sure all required gear is always in your child's cubby. Camp staff will be sure that each child has what is needed for the particular activity they chose. Please label EVERYTHING! Thanks. In keeping with our philosophy of trying to use the better part of wisdom with all growing folks, especially here at camp, PLEASE . . . NO candy, gum, artificial drinks, or sweets of any kind. Whole juices, fruits, nuts, and vegetables are recommended. The Nature Camps Staff embraces this principle. Please pack only nonperishable items in your child's lunch, as the children often eat lunch on hikes or away from base camp. Nature Camps doesn't not provide refrigeration for campers' lunches. On the first or second days of camp, Life Guards take children individually into the pool to determine swimming ability by NC Life Guards. Please be sure children have swim suits and towels the first and second day of camp. All children MUST keep a large bottle of water with them. Nature Camps has large Nalgene© water bottles with the NC logo for sale. |
