AEE provides safety management guidelines and accreditation for outdoor adventure programs. AEE Mission The mission of the Association for Experiential Education is to develop and promote experiential education. The Association is committed to support professional development, theoretical advancement, and evaluation of experiential education worldwide. AEE History In the early 1970s, a group of educators assembled in Boone, North Carolina, USA to discuss ways in which education could be made more relevant for students. These people knew that the core of learning is greatly enhanced by experiential forms of education. Now, with approximately 2,000 members in over 35 countries, AEE's diverse membership consists of individuals and organizations with affiliations in education, recreation, outdoor adventure programming, mental health, youth service, physical education, management development training, corrections, programming for people with disabilities, and environmental education. A More Just and Compassionate World The vision of the Association for Experiential Education is to contribute
to making a more just and compassionate world by transforming education.
ICEL Additionally, Nature Camps is an affiliate with the International Consortium of Experiential Education, (ICEL). It is a network of organizations and individuals whose aim is to promote experiential learning at a global and international level. ICEL is governed by a steering committee that works through a network of regional representatives. ICEL offers an international forum for dialogue among practitioners, theoreticians and administrators in the diverse fields of experiential learning. ICEL is particularly concerned with experiential learning as a vehicle for personal, social and global change as well as institutional and community applications. Don presented a workshop
